Biography of Robert Coates
Robert G. Coates attended Queen’s University, at Kingston,
Ontario. From 1971 to 1975 he was enrolled in the Faculty of Arts & Science.
In 1975 he obtained a Bachelor of Science (Honours Biology) degree.
He studied at Queen’s University Law School from 1976 to 1979,
at which time he obtained his LLB (Bachelor of Law).
Mr. Coates articled in Guelph, Ontario, at the firm of Kearns, McKinnon.
He attended the Ontario Bar Admission Course in Toronto. Upon his
call to the Ontario Bar, he taught a course in law at Humber College
of Applied Art and Technology. He worked for the Ontario Legal Aid
Plan for two years, prior to opening his practice in 1984.
Since 1984, Mr. Coates has practiced law in downtown Toronto.
